What is happening with CSC? Not too long ago they were "the" team, but now it appears they have been deserted by "Race" regulars...looking back to 2007, PTP choices for the Giro were littered with CSC riders, even before Andy Schleck came to the fore. Even in early 2008 CSC were "favoured" if not "favourites"...

So, what's happening?

WHile they did lose their leader Basso (that had to be a kick in the teeth), they still are a very (VERY) successful team. They consistently have stage wins, and HUGE classics wins (Cencellara, O'Grady to name recent Paris-Roubaix winners) and they consistently place at the top of the GC in the big GT's: Schleck in '07 at the Giro, Sastre being top 4 in the TDF two years in a row, and they pretty much always win the team title in the ProTour and almost every race they enter.

    So, what's wrong with them?...

It was my badly worded question. My point is there is nothing wrong with them, quite the opposite - but Race regulars and in particular PTP regulars seem to be overlooking them...me included!

With their sponsor pulling out at the end of the season I suspect that they will ride as individuals as opposed to as a team. So they wont win much.

    Maybe.

Surely they are more of a classics team now? Yes they have the Schlecks, but apart from Andy's 2nd which could've been a fluke, we dont' really know, they haven't, as yet, lived up to their tour contender billings...

I hope they can find a sponsor, if they don't theres going to be some rich pickings there!

    Have to disagree.

Both Schlecks could top ten in the Tour and the younger Schleck could even win it. Chris Anker Sørensen is a very decent GT prospect and I've also heard of this Sastre fellow who's quite decent at GTs.

How do you come second in the Giro as a fluke? It's not like a situation where he got a 30 minute lead that was chipped away at.

For some reason I think they're going to struggle to get a sponsor. But we'll see I guess.

Sastre has finished 20th, 10th, 9th, 8th, 3rd, 21st and 4th in the Tour and 6th, 2nd, 4th and 2nd in La Vuelta. Shleck is a more proven GT perfomer than most of the other teams have in their ranks.

They haven't sent a strong team to the Giro, but will be damn close in the Tour.
