Hi,
Can anyone help? I am building a specialised SX trail and have fitted a saint crankset (double) along with an e.thirteen DRS chainguide (ISCG old). The problem I have is that the inside of the granny ring is touching the back plate of the chain-guide. Are these components not compatible or am I doing something wrong? If you have an SX trail what set up do you have?

Thanks CeeDouf

the saint is more of a dirtjumping set for one, i dont know what the cause is but you will have a nice bike in the end. Probably some shimano thing you know how they are, you must buy our special tools to do anything with our parts, youmust follow our akward messurements, youmust spend money on our tools that only fit our parts that no one else dares make tools for. etc etc but yer probably a shimano thing.
Lost in my own mind, slowly loosing control of what I once was.

    WTF :?:

the Shimano Saint chainset was designed as a hardcore freeride unit - its great for freeride, downhill or dirt jumping

your problem is related to the way you have setup your cranks and chain device

with Saint you need to get the bottom bracket spacers (the black plastic rings) in the correct orientation so that there is adequate clearance between the back plate of the chain device and your granny gear (small chainring) mounting bolts - even though the HT2 bottom bracket is designed so that there is more threads on the right cup, you can often re-space the crankset by swapping a spacer from driveside to non-driveside or vice versa

there is also the option to respace the lower roller (to push it out) by adding black plastic plates

if you are not familiar with undertaking crank and chain device fitment, go see a good mechanic at a bike shop

something i have always had to do with E13s on SX Trails is to trim down the black plastic wear plate on the lower roller assembly, in order to get the right rotation for the chain device setup - see a mechanic if you are unsure - its worth paying $$ to get this right
