Is it a crack?

My Giant FCR3 has recently developed a creak from the seatpost, which I have as high as it can with the minimum insert still hidden. I cleaned and re-greased the seatpost, rails etc and the noise went away for about 2 weeks. Its back, and I have just noticed what looks like a hairline crack in the paint. I've done a quick diagram on paint to illustrate.
Given the location and direction of the mark, would you say its a crack or a scratch?
I've got a longer seatpost coming from wiggle as current one is an inch too short. This will hopefully help with the creak too.

To stop the creak wrap some insulating tape round the sleeve making the seat post a push fit. Regarding the frame being cracked I would think it most unlikely.0
