Yes ok another impossible question on heart rate!!!!
I am 48 years old and my average HR on a 60 mile trip is 143, it peaks at 165 and on the flat runs at about 140 BPM. I know there are different training zones, but I just want to keep fit.
I want to make sure I am not pushing my heart too much, is there such a thing as an average HR that is safe, example should it only be 135 BMP on a ride.
Now I know that it depends on hills etc etc, but is there such a thing as THE SAFE AVERAGE?
My cadance is ave 95.

Have a thorough medical examination. Once you know that your heart is in good shape, the `safe' average is whatever it will do. A healthy heart won't sustain, say, 160 bpm if it's not safe.
And if your heart _isn't_ in good shape, then the question is impossible to answer without a detailed medical history + examination anyway.0
