Hi,

I'm in the market for a €1500 bike, and my brother (who lives in Luxembourg) suggested http://www.rose.de. This is a german company with a massive argos-size catelog and what looks like great deals. I was looking at:

Aluminimum SL: http://www.roseversand.de/output/controller.aspx?cid=156&detail=1000&detail2=14648

and Carbon (T30): http://www.roseversand.de/output/controller.aspx?cid=156&detail=1000&detail2=10982

The frames seem pretty standard design, but the kit looks impressive (is it?).

Has anyone ridden or owned a Rose bike? Are they any good? or does anyone have a link to a review that is not in German.

Thanks in advance.

They look nice bikes but the carbon one is £100 more than a better specced Focus Cayo from wiggle (Ultegra SL over Ultegra) which has had lots of recommendations, or there's the Planet X Carbon Dura Ace for £999, also highly recommended (although I should point out I've not owned either).

I cannot comment on the bike. but i have a cataloge from www.rose.de, its 880 pages.one thing does stand out for me. When you compare prices to other companys they are very expensive. However it,s your choice Ademort

I have ridden one of my mate's bike swhich is a Rose. It's already a few years old and an aluminium jobby ( reason why he lent it to me I guess ) but it rode very well and the gear was pretty average but good, ultegra with some Rose branded finishing kit including wheels. Rose is probably the biggest German bicycle retailer doing lots of mail order business similar to Wiggle. Some of their frames have won lots of awards like their Scandium frame a couple of years ago. They seem to focus on selling complete bikes at lowish prices but the exchange rate does not make it cheap anymore for the UK buyer. They have never been cheap for parts and accessories though. Service is spot on and they also have a huge shop which looks a bit like a bicycle museum. Not been there myself but was told so by a friend.

    hi all,

thanks for the replys. I agree that Rose's component prices are way too expensive, the bikes seem to be where they are focused on. Mind you they have a huge range of crazy bike accessories, you name it they have it.

I was looking at the Cayo and the cost for those of us in the Euro zone rises due to EU delivery and exchange rate. After searching a bit further http://www.chainreactioncycles.com have a range of Cube bikes and they are free delivery.

Looks like there's pleny of choice around the €1500 mark, so I'll probably just take a bit of time. Must visit that huge bike store the next time I'm on the mainland,
