I could never really understand how insurance companies can get away with offering lower premiums to female drivers, merely on the grounds that female drivers statistically have less crashes. Seems like a blatant case of sex discrimination against safe drivers who happen to be male... or in favour of shockingly bad drivers who happen to be female.

I don't know if those sort of offers are still around though, but if they are then they must be stopped immediately.

Out of order! Could they refuse entry if you turned-up? (the shops not the ladies!)

insurance is like that, age, sex,job and area and from that they work out your risk to them. my parner being female and a few years older doesn't cost any thing to add to the car insurance

Yeah, it's just that I wonder what would happen if, say, employers (openly) paid men more because they weren't going to go on maternity leave, for example. That's also working out your risk to them, but would be blatantly illegal (if it was openly stated).

The insurance thing is sex discrimination, and age discrimination... just that it's legal discrimination.

Although I think the use of the word "Chicks" could be seen as sexist

I'd be more concerned if they were serving up Lambrini.

Anything that gets more girls-in-lycra out on the roads gets a thumbs-up from me. (Except Lambrini)
