Shimano RS10s
Hi,
I'm after a budget wheelset for my new build.
The bike will be used mainly as a weekend training bike, probably with Tiagra components.
I've noticed some good deals on RS10s (Ribble have them for £70) - but can't find any reviews.
Just wondering if anyone uses them, and they would be suitable for doing 50-100miles at the weekend at not too serious a pace
Thanks,
Rob

they are probably fine - they are in line with the Tiagra components you are using elsewhere - £70 is a decent price too.
The RS range replaced the R500 / 550 / 561 / 5600 range last year and seem to be well liked.0 -
I have heard that the RS20s are a better buy, but there again they are over a ton.
I remember the various bike tests in C+ where the 10s had been fitted and they weren't rated that well.0 -
Thanks for the replies...
May be worth saving for RS20s then - or maybe Aksiums ??0 -

WHR550 are a lot better than WHR500, but will now be difficult to find.
They were replaced by WHR560 and then in-turn by WHR561
Ribble were selling WHR500 at about £50 and WHR550 at about £70, but haven't had any for some time.
If you can have a Google around and find WHR560 or 561 at that sort of price then they'd be great0 -
Makes me wonder what the older models are like (560s or 561s) compared to the newer ones like the RSs.. The older ones were that good?0

For £70, the WHR550s were very good !
The downside was the nipples being at the hub end meant they were a bit of a faff to true - the front is fine because it's radial, but the back is radial non-drive-side and 2x drive-side, meaning you have to take the cassette off to get the spoke key in there.
Not a major thing, didn't need trueing very often, just a bit more of a faff than nipples at the rim (as was remembering which way to turn them to tighten/loosen !).0 -
Confused now :?
Tempted by the R500s at £54 from Ribble..
But I'm really curious to know how much better the RS20s will feel for my uses.
I'm not intending to use my new build to race on (yet), but hope to use it as a training bike a couple of times a week to do 50-100 miles on each outing..0 -
Ribble are doing the 20s for 110 quid, twice what the 500s are going for. Yer pays yer money and takes yer choices eh?0
