Time for a change?

I'm in a dilema, do I sell my Giant Trance 2 and OCR2 roady and use the funds to buy a decent road bike? I still want to keep my Cannondale hardtail to satisfy my off-road hunger. Every time I go to ride the Trance I'm put off by the weight of the thing and end up on the 'dale (I ride the Lincolnshire wolds, so not too extreme). Also doing John'o'groats - Lands End next year so could do with a "proper" road bike I reckon. All comments/ advice welcome.

  • I too had a simliar dilemma a few years ago. I had a Marin Wolf Ridge full bouncer, and after the initial new bike love affair, I soon came to hate it. Heavy, wouldn't go up hills blah blah blah.
It sat in the Garage alongside my trusty old Marin Bear Valley, and the Bear Valley got ridden shed loads more.

If the bike doesn't work for you, give it the elbow.

And I promise I won't mention CX bikes.....Oh Bugger!

Thanks Dirk, I think you're right. Have considered the cx route but I think a pure roady is the way forward. The giant is a great bike but I just can't get my head around the weight issue, puts me off before I start. Not enough hardcore off-road near me to justify it.

If it's Giant you like I can thoroughly recommend a TCR2, had mine for a couple of years now and the love affair continues.

I keep mine for the weekends though

Attica, not forced to be a Giant, I have no particular brand-loyalty, just worked out they were the best deals at the time. TCR 's do get good reviews though and my LBS is a Giant dealer and looks after me pretty well, need to see if they'll part-ex.
