Narrow chain ?

Hi, im looking from some advice, I have a 21 speed 2003 spesh hardrock, I have just chaned the crank / chainset from 22/32/42 to a 28/38/48t as I do much more road riding now, so this will give me extra speed. I had to also fit a longer axle bottom bracket to gain the correct chain alignment, all is fitted, but I may have to invest in a new front mech desgned for a 48t crankset, but my question is, can I use a narrow chain designed for 9 speed cassettes on my 7 speed set-up ? which will hopefully stop some chain rub in certain gears .........?????

Nope. you need a 6,7,8 spd chain.
