Assos Bib Short Sizing
i have just bought a pair of Assos bib shorts, i have been swung by all the positive reviews and have some lengthy days in the saddle this summer.
I took the sizing advice from my LBS and bought on their recommendation, when i got home i realised i have the biggest size in the range...TIR!!
I am 6ft, 11 1/2 stone and have a 34 inch waist, I got home checked my Rapha bibs which are an XL
Whilst they fit, i am just thinking that i must be in the wrong size and don't want to make an expensive mistake.
I would welcome any thoughts or comments.
Cheers

I am 6ft 1" and 12.5 Stone (79 kg) 32/33 " waist and buy XL not XLG or TIR Assos shorts which fit me fine.0

They sound too big for you - I'm similar in height (although a little heavier  ) and I'm an XL in everything Assos, except their SS jerseys which do come up VERY small.
The Assos sizing chart is a good guide:
http://www.assos.com/en/sizechart/Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0 -
Agree with the above. They seem far too big, though I think the important measurements are thigh length and torso, rather than waist.. I am just under 6 ft, and 11st 4, and take a large.
The new F5 shorts seem to come up bigger if anything.0 -
5'9'', 85 kg xl in bibs, xlg in tops0

I tried on an XXL top in France last week. I am 6'12" and 13 stones. It was far too tight. I've come to the conclusion that I will not be wearing their clothes unless I lose a couple of ribs.0

Assos sizing is VERY specific. I am 5'10" and I fit into a Large for their bib shorts.
Good way to tell is if you are standing upright they should feel slightly too small for you, but on getting into the 'tuck' position as if you were on the bike they should fit fine.
At 6ft the TIR do sound too big for you. The LBS should have known what they were doing of course.
Every clothing manufacturer will be different on their sizing btw.0 -
Assos sizes do tend to be on the small side. Which is odd considering how many riders you see are clearly not racing sparrows......0

Yes, but wearing Assos makes us think we are0

Every Assos size guide I come across seems to list short sizes with heights rather than waist measurements.
Example 1 (official site):

Example 2:

Does anyone know what waist size the TIR shorts are actually meant to fit?
Does anyone here wear TIR shorts? If so, what size waist are you?0 -

I'm definitely not a 34" waist ...So my question still stands0

Hmm... I'm 5'8" and 32" waist and I wear large. Mind you, I have a relatively big a*se.0 -

I find if I get shorts much bigger than mediums (e.g. My dhb large bibs) they are baggy at the back (@rse) and I tend to get the "baggyness" caught on the saddle when I come to sit down after pedalling standing up - it can be a right pain.0
