sensor position

Is there a preferred position for a wireless computer sensor and magnet. I used to have mine near the top of the forks with the magnet about 1" from the rim. I am refitting the sensor after a winter rebuild and wondered whether it would be better closer to the hub from a balance point of veiw. Any thoughts? Obviously it has to be in a position that allows the signal to reach the head unit, but it should still be ok closer the hub.

It's normally good advice to put the sensor and magnet nearer the hub, because the magnet will be passing the sensor at a slower speed and therefore you are less likely to miss any rotations of the wheels.

But it depends if your sensor has the required range.
