Continental Ultra Sport. I've bought 3 pairs in last month or so off ebay - I thnk from same trader. 1/3rd the price with P&P from sjs. I think spa cycles also have some x 1 1/8ths and x 1"s (which I shall be ordering as soon as I get around to it...).d.j.

I've bought a pair of Schwalbes Puncture Protection's for my Rat / Commuter, had to order them via my LBS. Only go to 80psi though.*Rock Lobster Team Tig SL (22lb 14oz)

"Only go to 80psi though."
OLD used 27" rims would probably let go of the tyres above that anyway I suspect!d.j.

Excuse me for my ignorance, I'm a MTB'er!
My old (but not in a good way) Repco Monaco 12 speeder rat bike / commuter and I don't know any better.
Rims are still straight and the tyres still on it, and I'm getting adept at bunny hopping it up kerbs now.*Rock Lobster Team Tig SL (22lb 14oz)

No offence meant, just that the hooks sometimes do wear away quite a lot.d.j.

No offence taken, I am genuinlely v ignorant regarding this bike, I initially thought it was a 700cc wheel size?, still not sure what the difference is..
It was bought to be locked up outside, after 'loosing' 2 others. The idea being that it was to "undesirable" to bother stealing.*Rock Lobster Team Tig SL (22lb 14oz)

27"ers (largely obsolete) are a nominal 630mm diameter and 700s 622. With only 4mm smaller radius, frames built for 27s will take 700s. Only problem is the brakes: if the bike built with close clearances for 27s then very often sufficient adjustment to lower the blocks to "reach" the smaller wheels, if lots of room and blocks already as low as will go then neeed to fit longer drop brakes. There are modern dual pivots that will do the job but old fashioned centre pulls (e.g. the long "750" version Weinmanns) are fine.d.j.

dttlincs - apologies for hijacking the post
meagain - Many thanks for the info, the brake pads appear to have room to move down another 11 /12mm. So good to know that I could possibly replace with (the more easily available) 700cc's, should they get damaged.
It's my 1st experience of 52T chainring and single pivot brakes ... shame it weights 5lb more than my MTB!*Rock Lobster Team Tig SL (22lb 14oz)
