i have finally been fit enough to have ago on my new focus fat boy, i like it very much, very comfortable and seems to do the job well, i am new to hydraulic brakes though, and the manual has said to bed the pads in and ride gently, how far roughly should i be taking it easy for, till the brakes will bed in?
i have used v-brakes for ages and they can lock the wheel quite easily, are disc brakes as powerful? and should i see the brakes improve once they bed in?
sorry to ask such a noobie questrion but we all have to learn from somehwhere

You generally need less lever effort to lock the wheel up with hydaulic disc brakes, and they work better in the wet.
Usually the best way of bedding in is to do a couple of dozen hard stops.0 -
should the lever be pretty solid when pulling back? if not then i guess i will need to bleed them0

They vary depending on the brake. Some are more modulated than others.0
