Depends on if you want a dual ring set up or if you want to keep all 3 chainrings.

Although you don't really need a bash ring for xc duties.

This works with 3 rings, and it looks small and neat. Have a look on page 124 of the latest MBUK.

Curious as to what it weights?

do you really need a bashring for XC though? i can;t say I've ever come close to needing one on a cross country ride.

I've damaged some chainring teeth on a set of concrete steps before. But I like the marks I leave on fallen down trees!.

I see more trees on my trails than concrete steps, so don't think I'll rush out to by one..

Never heard of a bash ring on a triple and I think it will inter fear when
changing the gears and will not work.

Does this mean your crossing over to the Trail side

Blackspire used to do a Ring God C4 for 44T rings, but they only do it in 5-bolt compact drive pattern now. It doesn't interfere with gearchanging, just looks clumsy.

If I were you, I'd ditch the outer ring, fit a 36T middle with a bash ring instead of the outer and an 11-34 cassette. Unless you regularly ride on very flat or fast terrain or tarmac, you won't miss your outer ring at all.

I ditched my outer ring and replaced it with a bash and chain retention device. I don't ride on the road, or go fast enough off road to need the outer ring. Now I never have problems with the chain jumping off, it was a good solution for me.
