What difference is there between having flat handlebars and low riser handlebars? (apart fom obvious geometry difference) Is it just personal preference or are there different reasons for having one or the other?[/code]

Pretty much what you say! Riser bars however tend to be wider, and swept back a little more too. This can ptovide a better control for many riders.0

Riser bars tend to be better in situations where you may have to wrestle the bars to get through a section.
Flat bars are lighter but don't allow you to put as much force through them as risers.
Control is all down to the skill of the rider.0 -
Remember a high rise stem can do the same job if you have a flat bar.0

Maybe I always felt I could transmit more power through a riser with a short stem than a flat with a taller stem.0

i feel that having them swept back puts my wrists at a more comfy angle, but that could just be me.0
