riding position

Hi, I'm a recent convert to cycling for pleasure. I'm doing a 25 mile sponsored bike ride next week. That's further than I've ever ridden in one go. I've noticed that after I've been out on the bike for about an hour or so, I get a stiff back (I've had occasional back probs over the years, nothing serious though) I don't want the back to cause me problems on the 25 miler. So any advice on correct riding posture, sadlle height/handlebar height etc would be welcome. Cheers uptonboy.

It's best to experiment with what you have - try making subtle adjustments to the saddle height and position, bar height etc. A shorter higher stem will bring the bars closer to you, reducing pressure on the lower back. A suspension seatpost may also help.0

cheers supersonic, makes sense I might give the shorter stem a try.0
