Back On The Bike....

Not riden regularly for years but the recent need to sell one of our cars meant the 8 mile each way commute to work needed to be done by bike.
Have had two bikes gathering dust in the garage so the trusty GT mountain bike with road tyres was but into action.
Been a few months now and I,m getting to enjoy riding again (hated it at first though, and it hurt....LOTS!!). Bit dodgy at times as the whole journey is over crap unlit country lanes and the feeling of compressed air as cars go past is a bit scary.

Well done for getting back to cycling. I think 8 miles is about the ideal commute distance (mine's just under) - keeps you fit, and not too daunting when you're feeling under par. Are you stuck with only the one route? If not, try alternatives that might turn out to be less scary or dangerous.0

Well done from me too!
8) Keep it up, especially as the weather has finally turned.FCN 100 -
Many thanks guys. I really only have one route on the commute, not a flat bit of road anywhere. Mind you the down hills are getting faster and the up hills don't feel like mountains any more. Amazing what a few miles in the legs can do!!
Got used to the fact that a lot of car drivers are complete idiots, and perfected the use of "hand signals" as a friendly greeting
My race bike is on the road now as well, currently using the MTB for load carrying days and the race bike for speed, and as you say......the weather is getting better.0
