Hi

I've just been checking my wheels (Fulcrum Racing 7) and have discovered a small amount of play from the cartridge bearings in the front wheel. The wheels are relatively new - is some play to be expected in such bearings?

Thanks

There shouldn't be any play when the wheel is installed and the Q/R is done up tightly. Other than that I can't help you, I'm not familiar with cartridge wheel bearings. I had my Shimano hubbed rear wheel lightly clamped in the frame recently, and happened to notice that there was very slight play in the hub. This went away when I tightened the Q/R properly.

Thanks. The QR was my first thoughts but tightening it further has made no difference. The play, in my opinion, is too great to be 'clearance' and if it were a cup & cone set-up I'd have my spanners out by now.
