Our small compnay does not have an allowance for cycling mileage. Can you tell me how much your compnay gives allowances for, I assume that they will not be taxable allowances.
Many thanks in advance.

12p a mile, 2003-4

Interesting subject........ I work for the NHS, and a press release form the NHS cyclist group covered the wide range of payments:The survey by Spokes, the NHS Cycling Network, concentrated on bicycle mileage, the expenses paid to staff who use their own bikes for business journeys. Under the Agenda for Change (AfC) terms and conditions of employment, NHS employers are required to reimburse staff a minimum of 6.2p per mile for work journeys by bicycle.
However, the survey revealed that 22 per cent of Trusts currently pay less than the AfC minimum or nothing at all - whereas another 22 per cent of Trusts pay more generous rates, sometimes up to 50p per mile. The remaining 56 per cent pay the bare minimum.
Our Trust has provided transport between sites and pays no mileage to anyone car or bike!He that buys land buys many stones.
He that buys flesh buys many bones.
He that buys eggs buys many shells,
But he that buys good beer buys nothing else.

I work for a university and I recieve 20p a mile. I often make a 10 mile round trip between 2 campuses, compared to 40p per mile by car, or reimbursement of bus ticket (£3) I'm cheap!
I can't ferry Large objects around as the car users point out, but I always thought that was why we have a twice daily mail van

Most important of all I'm quicker than both other modes of transpot!0 -
Thanks for those responses. I can remember reading some HMRC info on 20p being the max amount that can be cliamed tax free.0

HM Revenue & Customs will- if company pays an employee more than its approved rates, the excess is taxable
