on my new bike the handlebars are angled slightly down - the photo on the bianchi site has them pretty much flat.

was set up by the lbs but i don't entirely trust them (when i tested one they hadn't tightened the bars at all and they slipped when i braked..)

should i be changing it?

Change to whatever angle suits you. Many riders prefer a slight upwards tilt.
  • well i took your advise and gave it a go ;) moved them up a little and it's not so comfortable on the drops but much better for the hoods. thanks!

If you are talking about the tops, I find that having everything pretty much level as they
go toward the hoods to be the most comfortable in that your hands are not slipping forward or
backwards because of the angle of the bar. They are simply laying there. I also like to have the top of the hoods in line(level) with the bar tops. Seems the most comfortable for me. The picture looked good to me or at least real close to the way I set things up.

A quick thanks from me too. I had problems with sore thumbs when on the hoods and found that when i compared my bars to the photo they were angled slightly down. Since lifting them a touch it has been fine. I was wondering what to adjust to improve it but it seems obvious now
