....old thing (no, not ME). Took the '64 Carlton (geared, tho' I'm considering fixing it) out for a spin given dry roads. On one of my regular routes it is 10 miles to my first fag break. While I do not keep any records I nearly alway glance at my watch - and today was near enough the quickest since I had my all carbon TCR!
Obviously someone more able to take advantage of a "proper" race bike would do much better on a modern 20/30 speed sub-18 lbe rthan on a >40 y.o. machine wearing big 'grds and 27x1/4s, but it must have been a desirable bike in its day!
And no I'm not saying how long it took me!!
