Hello,
I am looking for a new lock for my incoming bike. I find the top end from Abus a little too expensive, so I decided to take a look in various cyle stores.
1> I have discovered a Trek U lock sold with a cable (Trek Streetwise U-lock with cable); does anyone know whether this is a good lock ?
2> I have also seen On Guard Pitbull; I have read very good comments about this stuff but I am wandering whether old versions of locks are sold in this store: on On Guard internet site, Pitbull is supposed to have a 4 bolt locking device, but lock packaging seen in store explains that it is a 2 bolt locking device (?!); lock is protected by a sliding cursor, but I guess that it is supposed to be a rotating ring that protects lock. Does anyone know if these characteristics correspond to curet or previous versions of Pitbull Onguard lock ?

Kryptonite NY D-lock through frame, cable through both wheels, second cable lock through saddle and back wheel - pricey, but worth it

The only thing that is easily nickable then is your front wheel - i can fit the NY D through the front wheel and frame on my commuter, which makes everything really hard to steal, but it doesn't fit round the 65mm deep wheels on my race bike, not that i'd ever lock my race bike where i couldn't see it anyway, it lives in my bedroom :D

People always overlook the cost of locks - £70 on locks now means you wont need to be dealing with insurance later, or even worse, the cost of a new bike out of pocket

Slightly OT (or maybe not) - you need to appraise the "Risk" I would not use anything less than than the Abus Granit on my thorn, and I also use a set of "Street Cuffs" and a cable lock to secure the frame and rear (Rohloff) wheel. But then again POrtsmouth has some dodgy characters around.

Even when touring I use the Abus.

    Thank you for your answers.

I finally set my choice on a Kryptonite Evolution 4 (along with a looped cable from same brand).
    (http://www.kryptonitelock.com/Products/ ... 0&pid=1203)
which I expect to be strong enough for my purpose (Sold Secure Gold), slightly longer than New York model (just the size I need) and a little lighter.
