Hi,

The brakes on my Terrago are Giant MPH (Hope C2) with 160mm rotors and basically I want to fit a 180 rotor on the front brake as I have been given a wavey one hehe.

It measures at exactly 180mm and has the same 6 bolt fitting, am I right in thinking that all I need is this +20mm standard to standard adapter (when it comes back in stock)?

Can I still use the same pads and everything? also will it be ok to use such a large rotor on my XC bike?

Thanks :D

Yup, 180 will be fine (if your forks are warranted for 180mm)

You do need a +20 adaptor

You can still use everything you already have, although the pads will have to bed into the new rotor.

Ok thanks :) everything will be sorted then as soon as the adapter comes back in stock or I can find somewhere else to buy it from, I just need to find out if I can use a 180 rotor on my Mx Comps? I don't have the instructions as the forks were second hand :(

edit: had a look on their site and the 2008 MX PRO LO can take a 7" (178mm) disc.. should be ok im guessing as they are similar forks, whats the worst that can happen?

most recent mx comp is 2006, says it can only take a 6" (160mm approx) disk

am not the person to ask on that count. will void warranty, worst case scenario (i would guess) ripping of brake mounts, damaging fork internals etc etc.

nicklouse or supersonic would probably be able to go into more detail

    Thanks for replying..

Not too worried about warrenty as its an old second hand pair on forks but I don't want them to die!! lol

Not true. they say the mount is for 6"
Which disc brakes can be mounted with the Marzocchi forks?

All the Bomber models with legs of 30 mm diameter can mount discs until 6"(160mm), all those with legs of bigger diameter discs until 8"(203mm).
2006/7: Models with 30mm stanchions and post mount can use 7"(180mm), models with 32mm or bigger can use 8"(203mm).
Monster T: To use a 205mm rotor will require using a post mount caliper suitable for a 185mm rotor.

Oh and Andy B has allready given the correct info.

wow that was a speady response hehe, thanks Nick..

so if my fork legs are thicker than 30mm I can use a larger disc?

Ok ive just measured my rotor and its actually 164/5mm :( so im guessing theres no point using the 180mm rotor as the entire pad isn't going to make contact as I can't seem to find a +15mm adapter..

If the brakes are working fine, leave them be!

iirc the A2Z rotor adapters are +20 max but have an elongated hole allowing them to be reduced to 15mm.
(if you look at the pictures of the A2Z ones you'll see what i mean! the hope ones are different and are fixed distance)

woo thanks for all of your help.. I got the A2Z adapter and everythings working great :D

The front brake hose stock has always been tight so it was just the right length untill I got my new forks, now it has to strech even further it only just reaches so I need to lengthen the hose.

An I correct in thinking that I can buy just one meter of this and I will be able to add the longer hose using my original banjo etc and then bleed it?

    Cheers :D
