... does anyone know if this is possible?

Iplayer clearly recognises that I am using a non UK IP adresse. Would be nice to be able to catch up with what used to be home other than by watching BBC World and listening to the World Service.

Thanks.

iPlayer is not available outside of the UK - although there is some talk of creating a subscription service for non-UK residents.

Other than that, I survive in France by using the UKNova site (http://www.uknova.com). Great for many UK broadcast programmes, but restricted in some ways - they don't make anything available that is soon to be released on DVD nor that is already on DVD nor any US-originated shows. Also, it can be hard to sign-up as there is only a limited number of accounts. But if you keep going back to it, you should eventually get in.

  • Forgot to add that you ought to be able to listen to a lot of the radio output using the BBC radio player. Only some programmes - live football on Radio 5, for example - are blocked - in fact some of these aren't available online in the UK anyway,

You could always ask a friend in the UK to hook a slingbox http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slingbox up to their TV and you can watch their TV online.

That's what we need for the Giro - get some friendly Italians to help us by-pass Eurosport.

I'd love to watch some Giro coverage, but in Australia it's oinly on at 7:15 in the morning and I'm at work by then! SLingbox sounds like a good idea.
