Handlebar Change, How Often?

I have Deda Newton bars on my 6 year old Ciocc, they have never been changed. Should I think about putting fresh bars on the bike? I have heard that light bars like these fatigue after a few years. I don't want then failing when I'm honking up a hill on the hoods.
