putting a shorter road carbon fork on a Trek FX 7.3

I have a Trek FX 7.3 (which Trek calls a 'fitness' bike). I recently put shimano RS20 wheels on it with 23c tyres and I am loving the change.

I would now like to put a carbon fork on the bike and the one I like requires long drop calipers and is longish for a road fork I believe (378mm).

Question is, road fork will be around 3cm shorter than the current steel one - is this lightly to make the bike unstable.

Has anybody experience of making a similar change ?? Would this be a daft upgrade?

Thanks for any advice

Hi coasti, I replaced the forks on my trek 7300fx hybrid last year with a pair of pro crosslight carbon forks courtesy of my LBS. Not sure about the sizing etc I'm afraid but the difference was tremendous, would definitely reccommend it.
Having said that, I'm moving to a road bike now but the trek is excellent for the bad weather and light trail use.
    Hope this helps :)

Thanks for that info - good to get positive info. Cheers.

I've ordered a Kinesis Racelight T 12k Carbon Fork to fit the Trek, but I'm think about getting a road frame too now. The Trek was my first 'proper' bike and I just love doing the miles on the roads here in Scotland.

I'll post an update on how it Trek rides with the new fork once its done for info.
