Hi,
Thursday, travelling home from work enjoying a quick ride in the sunshine 8) when a cement mixer came up behind me too fast for the narrowing road where there's two central reservations to protect right turners.
Slamming on of the brakes and he mounted the reservations to avoid me.
Immediately after the reserves he ran into traffic (which he could have seen) stopped at the traffic lights so he pulled right over the left and began gesturing towards the cyclepath and generall losing his rag at me.
 I lost the plot here and gave him a couple of doses of the "Harvey Smith" wave, still recovering from the shock
He then pulled off and at the lights turned left, but rather than just turn left he stopped half way round the corner to block my passage!!!
RIGHT! that was it, I now knew where he was going so I tootled down the lane he went down and arrived at his depot a few minutes after he did, went into reception and asked to see a manager.
One duely came out to see me and after an initial [polite] rant I said that a) it's NOT illegal for me to ride on the road and b) if doing more than 18mph I should be on the road anyway (I was doing around 20-22mph).
The manager took all the details down and promised that his company takes things like this very seriously and he would be talking to the transport manager in the morning.
I await their response.

Good man for reporting it!!!! That's a huge thank you from the rest of us.0

Good for you, hopefully the $#ithead will get the sack, or at least a severe bollocking.0

Nice one!
I got road raged by a Staples lorry (I overtook him in my car - perfectly safely - he tried to run me off the road as I passed him) and reported him - I was promised he'd lose his job.
Road rage is bad enough in a car - in a truck it's about 100 times worse.0 -
Let's hope they take some concrete actionroad0

Good for you, hopefully that w@nker will think twice next time.
I got ran off the road last night by a WVM. After an a tirade of expletives, has he merrily carried on his way oblivious to the fact, I had to do the remaining 4 and a bit miles with a f**ked pedal after hitting the kerb.0 -
Here's an attempted overtake, I'm glad the clown didn't go to the lengths your driver did:

Did you not get his details? Any CCTV in the area? Could have been far worse if you had come off into his van/path.

Unlucky mate! Did you get his reg. number? I'd be tempted to report it to the police and make a civil claim for the pedal on his insurance. It might only be a small amount of money and a pain to go through all that trouble, but the bonus is that he could well get hit in an expensive upgrade to his insurance premiums next year when the insurance company finds out. Also, if it's not his van, you'll get company details and the company finding out about his driving, so you get to put in a complaint too.0 -
Driving a cement mixer and reading...phil_ss1 wrote:...He then pulled off and at the lights turned left, but rather than just turn left he stopped half way round the corner to block my passage!!! ...
Would have required a new saddle, methinks!

I've only been commuting by bike for a couple of months and this was my first major incident so it was a bit brown trousers time. Took a while to compose myself again so didn't get chance to take any details and it was a plain white van.0 -
Handlebar mounted bike-to-van missile system should do it! You can always count on someone doing something stupid whenever you ride on the road, but half the battle is expecting them to!Pictures are better than words because some words are big and hard to understand.
