Bottlecage recommendation
I've decided to ditch my Specialized Ribcages so I'm looking for a decent bottle cage capable of holding a 750ml bottle comfortably - but I'm a bit of a weight weenie, so would prefer something reasonably lightweight. I'm considering the Planet-X carbon - can this hold 750ml bottle ok? Alternatively, it will likely be the new Bontrager plastic cage or Elite Patao. Any views?

The planet x holders are an excellent bottle cage. They hold 750ml bottles , and the ones i had did not rattle either. I sold them with my old bike and replaced them with Time holders for no other reason than they went with my new bike  . Well i now have cage rattle  . At £20 each i don't think you will find a better value carbon bottle holder...0

Profile Stryke Kages on all my bikes.
40g. solid and secure with 500 and 750ml bottles.
Cheap too at £4

Hard to beat Wiggle's 'Focus - dhb' bottles either for under £2.0 -
Pricey at around £30 each - but light at 17 grams and hold bottles well. Easy to get in and out of and look great. The Race X Lite version is still only 26 grams and significantly less money.0

Another vote for Tacx Tao - light, strong, very secure and cheap as chips....0

Yup - Tacx Toa is about the only cage that will hold something securely over pave - some of the current crop of carbon cages are incredibly flimsy - I wouldn't put a small bottle in there, never mind a big one. The only downside of the Tao is that it's not very resistant to sideways knocks - so take them off if outting your bike in a bag etc.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

For carbon I'd recomend Profile Karbon Kage's, not a lightweight but they do look bling. I've got them on two bikes and have no issues with 750ml bottles.0

Have you tried the Campag ones? It takes a good tug to get my bottle out of my Centaur ones. Hold the bottle more securely than the Tacx Taos (although they are still pretty good).0 -
I have Tax Tao on my road bike and PX carbon ones on my Tri bike, I rate them both so go for what ever looks best IMOObsessed is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated!0

I have the campag record one and can't fault it other than price.
I also have two Token mono-q cages for sale that are 20g each and yours for £20 pair inc postage;)

There's only one you should consider ........ Tacx Tao.0

I like my new Zipp carbon cages.0

I've got 2 P-X cages on my bike. No problems at all and a great price."A cyclist has nothing to lose but his chain"

I still like the metal ones. If it's not holding my bottle tight enough I simply bend it till it does.
Never had a bottle bounce out. Well, maybe years ago but now a little bend and it's as snug as I want it. Plus they are cheaper, generally come in blingy colors, and don't really weigh that much more than the fancy ones. Works for me. In reality it's not much of a
high priority item for me. All it has to do is hold a bottle.

Thanks for the advice - i went for the Tacx Tao in blackCake makes me happy0

I have a tacx tao on my px. Its not bad but I cant get a 750ml bottle in. Its mainly because the px is a small frame but with a traditional cage I could get one in and out easily.0

Hi there.
'nother vote for tao - I've never lost a bottle since I switched over to these 3 or 4 years ago.
Cheers, Andy0
