Rockhopper '08 cable routing

Just taken delivery of my new Specialized Rockhopper Pro '08 and I have noticed that the cables for the front an rear mechs cross over one another as they route down the underside of the downtube, is this usual or has there been a build problem?

I wouldn't have thought that two bare cables rubbing against one another is a great help in preventing wear.

Craetes a better angle for the cables form the bars, less pressure on the frame.
