Hi my trusty Look 585 has just let me down the other weekend, the bottom bracket caseing has come away which means the bottom bracket is just rattling around inside. Think they had a problem with the 2006 models, has anyone else had this problem or know anyone you has had this problem? If so how long did it take for you to get a new frame from look, or did they just fix it? Gutted as im gunna miss about 3 or 4 races!! Grrrrrrr

a dude on Weight Weenies had this problem about 2-3 months ago. His login is currieinahurry (aka tikka). Frame was a write off. Extensive info on his original post about this so just do a search on WW about it.

A guy at work had a similar problem I think with a 585, and he was offered a replacement frame or a 595 (I think) upgrade at minimal cost.
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

Talk to your retailer. It will be covered under warranty.

Should have a new frame in a few days. Was a problem on early 2005 LOOKS

I contacted look and they dont just replace your frame like that sadly!! All looks have a lifetime warrenty so it has to be sent away to France and the caseings have to be rebonded with glue again!! Nightmare as i thought they would just send me a new frame! But like you said and upgrade would be a wise choice, do you no what the minimum payment is to leap from a 585 to a 595?

I can't remember for certain, but I think it was £100 or something ridiculous - I'll ask him Tuesday (assuming I don;t forget!). I do remember that he took the frame to Portsmouth for inspection though.

I don't belieeeeeeeve it. 2 days after I read about this problem out this morning in a group on my Look, suddenly it feels like the cranks have come loose, stop and the aluminium insert has come out from the left hand side bottom bracket shell. It's a 2006 model too. Thankfully I bought it off a localish bike shop so hopefully there wont be a problem getting either a fix or a replacement frame - probably get it back just in time for winter

Bloody hell your joking!!! Nightmare take it your shell is just spinning around like mine hey!! If you ask you might be able to get a upgrade like me!! But they said to me i wont get a new frame, only if i upgrade as it will be taken back to france to be rebonded back together. Which i think is shit as they should just give you a new frame. But look i have heard are quite good customer service wise, may take from 2 to 4 weeks from sending it off to it arriving back.

It's the aluminium sleeve on one side that's sticking out - was just pressing on up a hill and suddenly the bike felt very soft and both cranks were loose. If they can fix it in 2-4 weeks that wont be a disaster - I'll be a bit disappointed if it's several months though especially seeing as it's right in the race season. Hopefully if they do rebond it they use a different glue this time !

Yeah tell me about it ive missed 5 races already and its only been a week and a half nightmare!! For some reason in 2006 they didnt bond them together with glue, the serated the edges like teeth and sunk them into the carbon. Whos daft idea was that, maybe to save a few grams or something!!! Think im gunna be offered a 595 for a extra £400 or something like that, but a bit worried about the isp seat pin for when i go abroad. Will just have to hire instead, supose it will stop the worry on plane of me having visions of them launcing it on the back of the plane!
