Hi all,

I thought that I had a small buckle in both my front and rear wheels, after looking at it,taking of tyres checking again etc, turns out my rims and wheels are fine but it was my tyres that wobbled not my wheels.Ive tryed refitting the tyres a few times and still I can seem to mount them perfectly true still get a slight wobble.

I know its fine but Ive got a pea in the head now,any tips for mounting tyres perfectly?Standard tyres/tubes not tubeless.

Many wobble slightly - they ar rarely perfectly symetrical. It is nothing to worry about.

    super don't lie...

did you pump them up evenly or did you stand on one side whilst pumping. You need to swap sides for alternate strokes so that you inflate them evenly. That way you'll find they stay central. :D

as long as the bead is locked in then there is nothing you can do! Maybe try fitting them with a really weak soap solution on the beads so that they can move a bit. Might help.

I was just gonna ask this very same question. I have a trance x2 with WTB Laser Disc Trail rims. Just changed over to conti vertical tyres 2.3. I cannot get the tyres to grab the lip of the rim. Causing the tyre not to seat right, Which in turn makes the tyre wobble. I rang hotwheels for some input, But the tech guy said try soap water and pump up the tyres untill it pings. Done all this and its still the same. Tried pumping slow and pulling the tyre back and fourth at the point which wont seat. Nothing, Getting a bit pissed. Tried the presssure at 35psi and rode up and down the road doing figure of 8's to see it i could make them seat. NOPE, Still the same. More to the point, What do i do when i get a flat, Your supposed to pump the tyre to 60psi so in pings on the rim. Then let it down to the desired pressure. With a mini track pump, Yeh right. HELP HELP PLEASE

Ive tryed the soapy water and pumped my tyres up to my max and ping went the tyre and all is now nice and straight.

Funny that, I have a giant Trance 2..........

Biggazu, check your rim tape. It might be riding up onto the bead and preventing your tyre from seating properly.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

Probably a case of the tyre not being true not all tyres run perfectly straight, I've had a case where I had a brand new perfectly straight wheel with the tyre seated correctly and there was a slight wobble on the tyre just a case of the tyre not running true.

Take this to Mythbusters if you want (professional wannabee forum loosers). But I''ve inflated many-a-time on the trail and found that it's due to the tube getting pinched between the rim and the tyre. Don't know the exact physics, but do know that (IN MY PARTICULAR CASE) this is the problem.

Well i gave up. I bought conti veritcal folding and sold the wire bead. Now i dont have a problem at all with the fitting. All the bike shops i rand, Gave the same waste of time advise. Use loads of soapy water. Yeh right, and what about when your out on a 28 mile epic, Half way round and ya get a thorn in ya tyre. Get your big bottle of fairy liquid out and pump like a whore on speed, HELL YEH

Anyway thanks for your views. Cheers B 8)
