DT Revolution spokes- Strong enough for a rear wheel???
Im about to order some spokes for a new rear wheel im building, Hope hub and Mavic Open Pro rim, 32 hole. Im wondering whether the Revolutions are going to be strong enough on the rear (although having 32 should make it quite tough??) as most rears seem to be built with Competition spokes. I weigh about 70-74 kg. Anyone any advice to offer??? It would be much appreciated!

They will be fine. 32H is fine too for your weight, just make sure you at least have 2x on the drive side. You could probably use DT Aerolites if you wanted but Revolutions are fine, very nice spokes.0

Im thinking of radial left side, 3 cross right??? The other rears ive built have been 3x both sides, but i wondered about having a go at something different?? 0x/2x maybe??0

That's fine too, just get the tensioning right.0

Just build 3x both sides. There isn't really any advantage to going radial on the NDS (apart from a tiny bit of weight), and I don't think the Hope hubs are actually designed to take the stresses of radial spoking. Even less advantage to 2x over 3x. Oh, but the spokes will be fine - I'm using 32 Revs on my disc brake MTB wheels at a similar weight to you.0

Cheers for the advice!! When it comes to the front, will a 28 hole Hope Pro 3 take radial lacing?? Its machined billet aluminium, and i had heard you should only use forged hubs for radial spoking?? I havent built radial wheels before because of the oft-stated risks of the hub flange breaking, but wonder if this actually happens very often anyway. With only 28 holes it should be a stronger flange i guess.0
