im just after peoples views on the following bikes, Ive got £300 to spend so I am looking at the following 4 bikes..

Dawes XC 2.2 (2007 model)

I'd ignoe the Felt - 7spd for that money is poor, and the rest isnt too hot either. A few more options in the What Bike thread.

Any chance of seeing a few in the shops?

I'd like to say the Felt because I ride one (fettled 620) but unfortunately they're not specced very well for the price, I got it because I'm impatient, it was available from stock and I liked the look and feel.

Search the forums for threads about winstanleys - might put you off ordering from them. If its your first bike don't mail order, go to your shop and try them out it might limit your choice but the the staff in any decent bike shop will be able to give you good advice - not halfords.

I'd look at the GT & Specialized.

Personally, I'd probably go for the Specialized. For one I've heard good things about Avid mech brakes & also I like Spesh bikes

good choice.

i have an 06 hardrock (sport disc specced), which I upgraded the bits on as they exploded!

I love it!
