Sportives v Race bike ?

Hi guys, I am in need of some advice,
I took up cycling last year for fitness reasons, I normally do two 15 mile runs during the week and a couple of hours on a Sunday morning - weather permitting.
I currently ride a Bianchi Mpro (alloy) and looking to upgrade to a carbon frame. Thing is I dont want to loose the speed (might do time trials) by choosing sportive, but like the idea of a bit more comfort (think about doing Coast to Coast in the summer) - Any ideas on type and model of bike ?
Looking at about a £800 to spend dont mind second hand!
Thanks

They are at an angle, turn the stem upside down and it gives a higher bar position and a slightly shorter stretch.0 -
Perfect Advice Reddragon - My riding buddy flip's the stem on his Tarmac for longer rides ,definately has helped his riding and stopped those annoying lower back aches after a long ride...
:P
I wish the rain would stop though ! [/quote]0
