Hi,
Is the 2.1 width the optimum for x/c and general pottering about off road?
Im running conti explorers which are wearing out and have seen the mountain king 2.2 which I like the look of.
Any thoughts?

Some manufacturers tyre sizes are a little larger (or smaller) than the stated size.

I use Panaracer Fire XC Pro 2.1's for general trail use, not tried the Mountain King's, but a 2.2 will be OK for general trail use, might be a little draggier than a smaller tyre (of the same make & model)

yeah, the fire xc pro is a great tyre, if you want something a little faster the maxxis highroller 2.1s aren't bad.

Conti tyres come up narrow - the 2.2 will come up more like a 2.1 anyway.

I have just brought a set of Maxxis Ignitor 2.1's from www.justridingalong.com which have pretty much identical pattern to my old Explorers. Having compared the two the Explorers do look slimmer. I thought about getting some Mountain Kings but opted for the Maxxis as you always hear good things about them.
Wow great ship man. Looks like a fish, flies like a fish, steers like a cow.
