I'm looking for a replacement pair of clinchers for general sportive and road riding.

I'm 65kg and pretty gentle on my gear, so want to replace the Ksyrium Elites that came on my Look 565 with something lighter that spins up faster.

My criteria are weight less than 1500gr, price less than £500 and Shimano compatible.

Looking around, I've narrowed the choice of factory sets to:
DT Swiss RR1450 Mon Chasseral
Easton EA90 SLX
Mavic Ksyrium SL

Anyone have experience of the first two (I know the SL's are common as muck)?

Am I missing any other obvious contenders?

I love the thought of handbuilts, but don't know where to start for a sub-1500gr set. Any pointers on what and who could meet my requirements?

Many thanks

Can't beat the Neutron Ultras - I had to make this same decision back in Dec/Jan and the Neutron Ultras were by far the best.

EDIT: You might find it to find them with one of those dodgy Shimano splined freehubs though - although I believe they do exist.

There seems to be a shortage of the Mon Chasserals since the C+ review. I've ordered a set from Chain Reaction for £380, but they won't be in stock until 9th May. I've yet to hear a bad review of them. They're a replacement for my Kysrium SL's btw.

    Replacement for the SLs?

Because they're old or because the Mon Chasserals are better?

The SLs are old. The rims are quite worn now, so I think it's time for something new. I think the DT wheels look good value and will perform at least as good, and hopefully better than the Mavics, and at a lower cost. In 6 years time when the DT rims are worn I can just lace the hubs onto new rims. Can't do that too easily with the Mavics  My previous experience with DT hubs was very positive, so I'm hoping their wheels are the same.

What about the new Dura Ace 7850's ?

I wanted a pair but nowhere seems to have any stock till Mid May / June. So I got a pair of SL's instead.

Fulcrum Racing 1's also within your budget and weight range I think.

I didn't think any of the Dura Ace's were the right mix of price & weight, but there seem to be so many combinations that I've probably missed them
