I bought a Carerra Valour from Halfords a couple of years ago and pretty much imediately changed the tyres it came with for some Vredestein Fortezza Tricomp tyres , which haven't exactly lasted very well !! ( 500 miles and a bit perished / cracked ) I still have the tyres it came with and am thinking of putting them back on the Carerra but with slime lite tubes in to beef up the puncture protection as I use the bike for commuting to work and also as a trainer / wet weather bike .
Does anyone have an opinion on this ?
Do you think that cheap / bog standard tyres ( as supplied on the bike ) along with slime lite tubes will be as good as puncture resistant Vredesteins with standard inner tubes ?

The Halfords tyres I had my Carrera only lasted 2 months before the back tyres wore out. It'd be a waste of your effort putting them back on.

Get some decent Conti or Michelin tyres.

My rear tyre on my Carrera Vanquish lasted about 500 miles, maybe less, got a 3mm hole in it and the patern is almost worn out, no good now, got it as a back up but I got a Continental Ultra Sport and I hope its a better tyre, doing ok so far. The tyres mine came with were Continental Sport 1000.

I replaced my Halfords tyres with Conti Ultra Sports last August - commuted everyday (nearly) on them since and they've only just started to show signs of wearing out.

Aye but are yours the standard ones with no kevlar, mine are the ones that have no puncture protection :(, cost £13 for one though

Also why have you got the picture of the carrera under 'dodgy bike' in your sig if you dont mind me asking? :p
