Chainset Ring BCD-H/C & Chainring Compatability?

Currently have a triple Chainset with 52/42/30 chainrings. Outer & middle rings have
130mm BCD (76.4mm H/C). Inner rings have 74mmBCD (43.5mm H/C).
Want to change middle to a 38T & inner to a 28T.
Can this be done with the BCD? Will the front mech (triple) shift with a 52T outer ring & this combination ie 24T difference?
If possible who supplies good quality chainrings at a sensible price?
Thanks in anticipation.

    the rings will be fine

    see http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_bo-z.html

as for mech capacity then Shimano usually spec 20 or 22t capacity, but these things usually have a bit of flexibility in them so you could well be fine, although I've never tried it myself. As long as you don't run small-small (which you shouldn't anyway) you'll be fine.

For rings see Stronglight (cheapish) and TA (very good).

I run 52/39/26 on the tandem with a standard Shimano front mech (DA 7700 triple).
