Whyte 46 - Shock/Swing arm bearings

Hello
I am trying to replace the bearings between the fox shock and the swing arm on my Whyte 46 (2006). To me it looks as though the length of the bearing assemblies (including top hat rings) are too long for the opening in the swing arm. I don't want to force them in and risk damaging the swing arm.
Anybody fitted these before?
Thanks

are you replacing the DU bush on the shock or the brearing/bush on the linkage?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Its the bearings between back end of the shock and the swing arm that the QR goes through to change between 4" and 6" travel. (Whyte bearings, not the Fox ones).
To me it looks as though the gap in the swing arm that the bearing/shock/bearing assembly fits into is too small, I think there should be an interference fit but not as much as it needs to get them in, not too keen on forcing them in with it being aluminium.
Any ideas?
Thanks
