Chaps,

busted my collarbone on Wednesday, and one outcome is that my Palisades now has a very bent front wheel.

I'm assuming it can't be trued, but I might take it to the lbs to see.

The front hub is listed as a Shimano 32 hole disc one.
Rims are WTB SX24 32 hole disc, double wall.
Spokes are WTB 15 guage black stainless.

The brake disc appears to still be true.

So what is the likely outcome?

Complete new wheel?
New rim, and pay someone to knit it together with the existing hub and spokes?

If I do go the new wjeel route, do I 'need' to get a pair, and if not, am I best advised to go for the same type of wheel?

Can't say I have any complaints about them.

The Marin is sat in the garage looking pretty sorry for itself :?
Would be nice to get her up and running soon, well cheer me up, and help me heal faster!

I got a quote for a LBS to rebuild a wheel last year. For the same cost they quoted,I could have bought a new wheel frm Merlin. In the end as it only needed some new spokes I did it myself and took it to antother shop who trued it for £10.

    Have a look on www.merlincycles.co.uk.
You will probably find that you can replace the wheel with something of similar qulaity or better for £50.Something like a Deore hub, with a Mavic 717.317 would be OK.There are some good deals on pairs, but of course you only need replace the one,if the other is still OK.

Thanks spidey, yes technically I only need one, but perhaps if there was a really good deal I might get a pair.

When you say £50 for a better wheel, are you talking about getting Merlin to build one for me, or one of the factory wheels?

    Thanks

Custom built by Merlin is the best bet.

Deore hub, Mavic XC717 rim, DT Swiss black stainless double butted spokes. £55.

£61 for the rear if you fancied a pair.
