Anyone read it yet? I've got it sitting here ready to go but I keep picking on the mountaineering books instead. It got a really positive little review in one of the free London magazines yesterday.

It's sat my bed waiting to be read. Will take it on holiday in a fortnight if I've not read it before then.0

Excellent read. A pleasant surprise after Paul Howard's previous effort (the unfortunately titled but very dull Riding High), but this is a rather more compelling subject. Won't spoil it, but you will already know that Maitre Jaques lived fast (some more driving anecdotes, even if repeated from old mags wouldn't have gone amiss to reinforce this point). Now all we need is areally good book in English about Fausto.0

I've almost finished this and have enjoyed it so far. The author attempts to draw out some of Anquetil's character traits so it's a bit better than your average rider biography. You'll not be surprised that Anquetil was driven by money and being the best (i.e. he'd try and beat Poulidor in every event).
There are some interesting comments and views on drug taking and testing too that resonate today.0 -

Did an event on Saturday, La Vencoise, and the final 20 kms were covered in a torrential rainstorm of biblical proportions. It was like riding along a river.0 -
