Is there a thread for taking a bike on holiday and having adequate insurance cover for both the bike and rider in case of damage/accident etc or does anyone have any recommendations?

There are lots of threads about bike insurance. I've just posted in this one.

M&S Home + Contents insurance gives you H + C cover (obviously!) but this also includes cover for multiple bikes, home and away, upto £4k per bike on a replacement basis i.e. they don't try and give you reduced cover for an older bike. Additional benefits are £50,000 legal expenses and £2,000,000 personal liability in case you get sued for causing an accident.

For personal travel cover I use Insure & Go. I only go abroad once a year so I just get the Single-trip cover which is very good value, but for multiple annual trips, look into Annual multi-trip. Their policies cover road cycling and mountain biking providing that you are not racing - it might be wise to double-check and get it in writing, if you are going to do sportives since they could well be interepreted as racing from an insurance viewpoint.

I've booked a holiday in the Pyrenees in September. Marmot Tours with whom I'm travelling recommend Snowcard for personal cover. I've gone with it and it seems to be a decent package for the money. I haven't managed to find any cover for the bike though, so I would be interested to see if you can come up with anything.
