What should I be wearing in the different seasons?

I am buying some new clothes for cycling and am trying to think ahead for the warmer months.
Since it has been kinda cold and wet I have been wearing bib tights, a short sleeved shirt, wind proof jersey, waterproof jacket, gloves etc, but what is best in the warmer months?
I was thinking bib shorts, short sleeved shirt, fingerless gloves, etc, but can you carry something that is small in case it cools down?
I always seem to have the problem of not knowing what to take with me/not enough room lol.

Haha, we do get the odd warmer day lol :P0 -
I do not go for shorts unless above 12 degrees.
Then I use knee warmers which can be taken off when warm or put back on when cool.
I wear either long sleeve top now, or short sleeve with arm warmers which can be rolled down.
I also take a windstopper jacket in back pocket currently as I ride evenings and it gets chilly from about 8pm.0 -
What you need is packable options.
An unlined Pertex windstopper (Montane Velo or similar) and legwarmers fit in jersey pockets and will cope with most of the "summer" fluctuations.0 -
As Welshie says, kneewarmers and armwarmers can be worn with shorts and jersey right thro' from Spring to Autumn on the cooler days.
A pair of thin waterproof overshoes like the Northwave H2O's are good if it's wet to keep feet warm + thin full finger gloves if it's wet.
Thin waterproof shell cape and a windblock gilet can be used alone or together to keep you warm even on the cooler summer days.0 -
A gilet is a good option for carrying in case the air gets a bit nippier.
I'm almost jealous of your cold weather. I bought a cycling jacket just after Christmas and have only had to use it once (I commute from Harrow to Barbican). Even in January a LS base layer and SS jersey have been plenty warm enough.0 -
I'm always a bit weary about trying kneewarmers and armwarmers since I have been told that they can be annoying i.e. slipping down etc....
I might as well try them out for myself though.0 -
Some are better than others. I got some ExteOndo ones from Prendas which are great. All the others I've tried are either designed for Chris Hoy (chunky) or Michael Rasmussen (pipecleaner) and nothing in between. :roll:0

I got some Santini ones from prendas, they havent come down during racing on track or road.
My best buy was assos windstopper jacket for £17 on ebay its great and packs into back pocket.
Watch out on ebay in summer for bargains on winter clothing
I also got 2 air block jackets for £45 each, like new.0 -
This is more for winter, but you cannot beat a nice merino wool base layer. There are a bunch around. You could probably get Howies or Rapha for a reasonable price. I got mine from Millets for 30 pounds, Rapha is not a whole lot more.0

Which brands are aimed at "pipecleaners", these are the ones that I need !!!0
