Quick Release Wheels

Strange question time!
Is it possible to replace quick release bolts with an ordinary nut & bolt.
Not something I have thought of, but my mate has just bought his first bike and from a security point of view, would prefer not to have QR on the front.
I suggested taking the wheel off and chaining to the rear, however, he seems determined to go down the other route.

on some wheels yes on others no. it all depends on what hubs you have.
you can get lockable Qr's or Qr replacements."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Check under skewers at www.nashbar.com. I have a pair of these and they work very well. It would seem that any bike shop should be able to get you a set.

get an extra cable to take through the front wheel and lock it to the frame. probably less effective then a locking skewer or bolt but its not a pain in the A** when you get a flat.Giant TCR advanced 2 (Summer/race)

I've replaced my QR handle skewers with QR hex bolt skewers, I think I got them on eBay but I'm not sure. I'll just have a quick check."Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0
