Hi all, some who keep an eye on this forum may be aware that at the moment an epic bike tour/rally is being planned from the UK all the way to Kenya to raise money for charity, open for all to join!
Its a way off yet but progress is good, we have our first newsletter http://www.downrightkenya.org/?p=62
Check it out.
Riders are starting to join and publicity is getting bigger, if you want to see what goes into a ride as big as this, or indeed you are tempted to join, please visit the http://www.downrightkenya.org/
ALso I would love to ask for some help from you my fellow riders, we have no budget to organise this event so ANY HELP would be very welcome, even if its passing the website onto a friend or contact who may be interested!
Also please feel free to add ANY comments you may have about the ride, even if you dont think it can be done, I like a challange!
Cheers

sounds awesome, good luck with it. The charity side of things I have found hardest - quite difficult to get people to part with money with so many competing charities. There must be some stuff on the web about how best to facilitate this though.Oct 2007 to Sep 2008 - anticlockwise lap of Australia... http://www.davidddinoz.blogspot.com/

There are 2 portuguese doing Lisbon Dakar in 2 mountain bikes bought in the supermarket - 50 € each. They only have 1000 € each and they ve reached Western Sahara so far...crazy!

Last year I found it hard to raise £1000 in this amount of time (In the end I did exceed it) when I motorcycled to Chernobyl to raise money for the Chernobyl Childrens Project.
In my opinion and experience £3000 is a little ambitious; some of the team doubled the target but that is still a grand short of yours. Regardless, the very best of luck to you all!
I plan to do something like this in a few years when I am fitter and up to continuous days long distance cycling.2007 Giant SCR2 - 'BFG'

Good luck - a fantastic ride. Not been down to Kenya, but cycling across the Sahara is great - what's your route?________o
