Drops on a hybrid

I've a Sirrus, which at some point I might want to switch to drops. But I've been led to believe from this forum's wise words that hybrids tend to have longer top tubes than road bikes, therefore fitting drops means an even bigger stretch. My Sirrus is slightly larger than ideal (it's a "L", I'd have gone for a "M" but it was a second hand bargain and I find it OK).

It's just a hill. Get over it.

I did this conversion, on a Sirrus Elite no less. My conclusion after a couple of years? I should have kept the Sirrus as it was, and bought a second drop barred bike, which I did. Put the Sirrus back to original spec, and bought a Langster.

Sorry for hijacking the thread  but......BM how do you find the carradice bag on your Langster. Is it better than a back pack/courier bag? I was thinking of getting the SQR Tour which is slightly smaller.

Love it, best bike bag I ever bought. I don't use backpacks much, I don't find them comfortable, and the ~10kg I need to carry for work is waaaay too heavy to have on your back anyway.

    Go ahead, don't mind me...

    PS: thanks, Mikey

Why? As you will see on other threads, I'm running out of patience with my commuting bike - it appears to have gone from trusty steed to lemon recently.

One option for me is to commuterise my mountain bike, including re-jigging the cockpit to something more familiar. Although this could be the stupidest thing I ever do, what sort of issues might it pose?
