Hi I have recently upgraded a really crappy fork I had called (rockshox Dart2, enough said) to a Marzocchi XC 500, the only thing is, on the new fork is says they are strictly NOT for all mountain or jumps, are they just being a bit carefull, will I be ok really? cheers, Sam

no they are not really being that safe. Quite simply they are designed for XC use and that includes most things that you will find on an XC course.

if you want to drop and jump get a suitable fork.

  • Thats a shame becuase I cant take them back now I've used them a couple of times, When I say jumps i meen If I go to Dalby forest and do a course I'll do a few drop offs and wotnot.

I meen, how far does XC go in terms of things like that? a £200.00 pair of forks surely can take the brunt more than DART2?

both are along with the tora, the reba, and the MZ and MX all for the same type of riding. and you should be fins on the trails at dalby.

Yes, if you dont do jumps or the big drops! Unless you land smooth. Break them, and its your fault.

  • would it not depend on someones weight to an extent? A decent pair of xc forks should be made to handle someone say 16 stone fine. So if a 10 stoner used them they would be able to do bigger jumps etc than the 16 stoner

Its more to do with crashing and hitting trees! But yes, lighter riders are lighter on equipment.
