Lights for night (road) riding

I've just bought a road bike with the intention of going on a few longer rides. Been commuting for years - the stress and adreneline is a good laugh, but I'd like a few relaxing times on the bike as well.
I want to give the Dun Run a go this year - it's been something I've been scared of for a few years, but I'm feeling braver now. Does anyone have experience of how well the roads and lanes outside of London are lit? I've been looking at Fenix lights - reasonably cheap, look sturdy enough to last, use sensible batteries and are very bright (well according to their website, anyway). Would one be enough? Or can anyone recommend anything else up to £50?
Cheers.
