Stem dilemma

Having got my new bike set up with the same dimensions as my old bike eg saddle height, nose of saddle to bar etc, there is one small difference of about 1.5 cms in the length of the handlebars out to the brake hoods so I have to reach slightly further for gear changes and braking. I could compensate for this by replacing the current stem with a shorter unit, but this would bring everything closer and I'm not sure if this is a good thing to do.

I did a 40 mile ride on Saturday and didn't have any neck, shoulder or back issues yesterday, so I am I better off leaving things alone? :?

i'd look to change the handlebars for ones with a similar 'reach' dimension.

then you'd have the exact same setup as your other bike!

I'd leave it - you might end up preferring your new position - if after a while you don't then think about changing the bars. Of course as it's a new bike maybe there's a chance wherever you bought it might do you a deal on swopping the bars for something else while they are still new ?

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.
