Hi all,

Stupid question maybe, but can you find triple groupsets for centeur and above?

And if so can you send me a link where to buy them, i have seen some xenon triple chainsets, and also a centeur triple... but SO rare

Its one thing that has put me off campag, but if this isnt the case i might change my mind :)

I am a week cyclist with a compact and MTB cassete atm on an 8 speed, i wont have the same gearing without a triple, even with a 29 cassette.

Thanks

Will

    No, Campag have given triple groupsets their own names, I think this is what they're called;
Champ - 9 spd basic and cheap, probably Mirage quality
Comp - 10 spd mid range, Veloce sort of prices
Race - 10 spd high end, Chorus sort of prices
They haven't got specific Ergos, you can use any, they're all triple compatable.

There's still a fair bit of old stock about, including the Record chainset above (Cheaper from Bike+) Ribble have a few mechs, pre indexed shifters are available if you look around (Better IMO) and Ebay is worth a look for old stock bargains.

I recently changed one of my bikes from a double to a triple set up. Went from a chorus double (alloy) to a Racing T triple chainset and I have to say the thing really does weigh a lot; I'm not just talking about the extra weight of the third chainring- there was a big difference even in the left crank arms. As has already been suggested, best look around for a Record triple from ebay or one of the aforementioned retaillers.
You can\'t have everything.... Where would you put it?

No. You have the hierarchy wrong there. The Comp is the best quality of the three, more so than the Race and the Champ, but even then you haven't got Chorus quality components, more Centaur than anything else.

Generically speaking (if it is possible to ignore the various groupset line-ups), what is the difference between a Campag double and a Campag triple groupset? Is it just the crankset?

Somebody posted that the shifters are compatible. How about the front mech and bottom bracket?

The chainrings and of course the longer rear cage. I think, and please someone tell me I'm wrong, but isn't the front derallieur the same as it's double counterpart?

hmmm intersting, hadn't thoughthtye would name the groups differently, how come though you can get record chainsets that are triple then? Is it only a recent change to change the names?

Comp seems about the same price as centeur, so would that be a better comparison for the top triple, rather than chorus?

The new Campag triples are fairly new i guess I think they brought them out about 6 months ago. of course you can pay for a Chorus or Record triple if you want to, but I guess it depends how much you are going to use the bike with the fitted triple.

The Comp triple is comparable to Centaur, that much I do know, and i would personally go for this over the Champ and Race.

You have these three and then if your budget allows you have Chorus and Record, and of course Centaur compact if that floats yer boat! Good luck with your choice. :D

I've picked up a Record and a Chorus Triple in recent months. They are both beautiful pieces of kit. Highly recommended, with big savings on RRP.

I second the beauty of the Chorus triple! See link to pic of my bike below.
